004

Mattel experimented with encroaching upon and even infringing on copyrighted properties.  The 004 is probably the most blatant example.  Mattel was cashing in on the popularity of James Bond, and even released 004 figures in Mexico that had James Bond 007 printed on the box.  The figure was very successful and it was produced in variations for five years.  That's longer than the original Big Jim.  The figure is a modification of the Double Trouble commander.  The DT mechanism was modified to change faces without the push button (just by cranking the arm) and one of the two faces was removeable.  The figure came with three to six masks (depending on what year it was produced) that could be installed on the changing mechanism.
