The Gold Commander
The second release of the Big Jim Pack Commander had a black
shirt and gold pants, so he has been dubbed by many collectors 'The Gold
Commander.' I have placed him in with the second assortment, but
I am not really sure of the release time and place of this figure.
For sure he came after the Blue Commander, but he does not appear in the
advertisements for the other second assortment figures (DT Commander, Torpedo
Fist, and Zorak). The box for this figure is different from both
the first assortment window boxes and the second assortment widow with
flap boxes. The box is much like the boxes that the olympic Big Jim
and Big Jack came in. It is thin and windowless. To add to
the mystery, the figure comes with a comic book with many discrepencies.
The PACK Commander in the comic is the blue commander. Many of the
items in the comic did not actually resemble the toys. One distinct
example is the Blitz Rig. The Blitz Rig toy was the Lazervette and
Howler motorcycle packaged together with a trailer. In the comic,
the Blitz Rig is a vehicle that resembles the Rescue Rig with some modifications.
The Gold Commander comes with a black long sleeve shirt with PACK logo,
gold boot-cut jeans, a PACK belt, a pistol with shoulder holster, black
engineer boots with paw print soles, a wrist communicator, and a comic
book. The figure is packed nude and wrapped in tissue. All
accessories including the shirt and pants are sealed in a plastic bag.
The comic was rolled around the figure in the box making a mint copy an
extremely rare find.
