Big Jim enjoyed huge success in Italy, German, France, Britain, Belgium, and the Netherlands (probably a few I missed too, so let me know and I will add them). The early releases paralleled the US releases with the exception of the Mark Strong line. For some reason, Mattel changed the name for some markets in Europe in the beginning. After the release of the PACK in the US, sales of domestic Jim were in trouble. By 1977, US Jims were extinct, but in Europe rather than kill the line, Mattel opted for a new direction. First they focused on adventure, and then expanded to Spy, Pirates, and Space. This page will be a catch-all for the European items that never saw US release, but also don't really fall into the other Euro categories on the site. |
