With Mattel's greatly successful Major Matt Mason line, I am surprised it took them about ten years to intergrate a space theme into the Big Jim line. The space line began in the early 80s with two figures that had a Buck Rogers-like theme. There were two 'crossovers' to the old Major Matt Mason lines in the Captain Laser figure and the Space Mission set. In the mid 80s, a revamping of the Big Jim line included several new futuristic figures and vehicles. For more space toys check out Jim Gillam's Space Toys of the 60's.
