Captain Flint

Captain Flint, or Sandokan for the Italian version, was a modification on the Torpedo Fist body.  Mattel did a 'bang up job' on this modification (pun intended).  The right arm of the figure so that a cap can be inserted.  When the arm is lowered to the side of the figure, and the 'karate chop' button is pressed, the arm raises and the cap fires.  Just put Flint's pistol in his hand, load the cap, press the button, and it appears that Flint takes aim and fires.  Flint's head is a repaint of Buffalo Bill's head and he has brown hair.  Flint comes with the high pirate style boots, a pistol, a sabre, green pants, a green belt/sash, a green bandana, that funky striped shirt, and a supply of caps.

I have been informed that the naming of the Italian version of this figure was inspired by the writings of an Italian author, Emilio Salgari.  He wrote stories of his character named Sandokan.  Even the Big Jim Sandokan costume is similar to the author's version.  Here is a link for more info on Emilio Salgari and Sandokan, unfortunately it is in French and I cannot read it.  Maybe someone can translate for me?  See another sample of fanastic box art below, and compare the Big Jim Sandokan to the images on the Emilio Salgari link.

This image below is taken from an Italian TV show based on Sandokan.  Could a designer at Mattel used him for their inspiration?  Looks like it to me.  Thanks to Matthieu Letourneux for this image and the Salgari info.
