The Red Commander
There have been rumors floating around about a third Big
Jim P.A.C.K. Commander with a red shirt. So I decided that I would
do a custom Big Jim P.A.C.K. Commander in a third version. I wanted
to use a red shirt, and I thought is would be cool to stick to Pack colors,
so I needed bright yellow pants. First I thought of using the Gold
Commanders pants, but I wanted to set this figure apart from the other
two. My next brilliant idea was to dye a pair of Blue Commanders
white pants to yellow. I nixed that idea because white pants are
hard enough to find. Then I thought of the yellow pants that come
with one of the hunter outfits. But these pants don't have the flair
at the bottom, the waist is pretty high, and there is no elastic waist
band. The hunter's pant are meant to be covered by a shirt, and I
thought they really looked strange. Finally I decided I would have
to do some sewing. I broke out my wife's machine and bought some
yellow fabric and went to work. I ripped apart a pair of Warpath's
pants for the pattern. The pants you see on the figure are my fourth
attempt. The fifth or sixth should be near perfect. I added
the stitching for the fly and pocket on these as you can see in the photo.
Enough about the pants.
The figure started out as a PACK Commander with some hair
rubs. I have a friend in Malaysia that does sculpting and modeling,
and he has a nice airbrush set up. (Thanks Adrian!) So I sent the
head half way around the world for a new paint job. I wanted this
guy to look different, and I think the Whip paint scheme on the Jeff figure
changes the look completely so I sent Adrian a picture of Josh and asked
him to do that in scheme in black. The shirt is from a Toy Biz Famous
Covers DareDevil. I removed the chest insignia from DD and cleaned
it up with some acetone based nail polish. The belt is a PACK buckle
with black elastic sewn on. The holster is a custom black holster
made by Michael Holub (Thanks Michael!). The boots are Whip/GC black
PACK boots, and the wrist communicator and pistol are standard PACK commander
issue.
Coming soon is a photo with all three commanders.
Sorry no digital camera yet.
